Benjamin Ho to lead HTC marketing strategy
HTC has appointed Benjamin Ho as chief marketing officer, as the Taiwan handset maker seeks to revamp its brand amid fierce smartphone competition.
Ho, a former FarEasTone executive, will join HTC in January 2013. He will report directly to CEO Peter Chou.
Ho's first assignment, HTC said, will be to lead a project, dubbed internally as Marketing 2.0, refocusing HTC’s efforts around holistic marketing and mass-market brand outreach.
Ho was previously VP of business strategy and marketing at Taiwan mobile carrier, Far EasTone Telecommunications, and has extensive experience in marketing. He has served as VP and CMO at Motorola Asia Pacific, as well as director at BBDO Greater China, Dentsu and Young and Rubicam International.
Jason Mackenzie, currently serving as president of global sales and marketing, will focus on HTC’s global sales strategies, partner collaboration and field execution.
John Wang, who has been driving brand marketing, will leave the company, HTC added.
