Tele2 CEO Mats Granryd moves to GSMA as director general
The GSMA has appointed Mats Granryd as director general and a member of the association’s board.
Granryd replaces Anne Bouverot, who resigned in March to join Morpho as chariman and CEO.
Granryd will join the GSMA from Stockholm-based Tele2Group, where he served most recently as president and CEO. He will assume his new role at the GSMA on January 1, 2016.
Granryd joined Tele2 in 2010 from Ericsson, where he spent 15 years in a variety of roles at the vendor, most recently as head of Northern Europe and Central Asia.
Prior to joining Ericsson, he was a management consultant in telecom strategies at ARRIGO and Andersen Consulting. Granryd holds a M.Sc. from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.
Riverbed appoints Bjorn Engelhardt as SVP for APJ
Riverbed Technology, a supplier of application performance infrastructure, has appointed Bjorn Engelhardt as senior vice president of Riverbed Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ), based in Singapore.
In his new role, Engelhardt will be responsible for leading the Riverbed team across its six APJ markets and driving the firm’s sales and distribution strategy.
Engelhardt brings to the table with 20 years of business, IT and consultancy experience in the region, including security, data center and virtualization, network and application infrastructure, software-as-a-service (SaaS) and emerging technologies.
He joins Riverbed from Actifio, where he served as vice president and general manager for Asia Pacific & Japan.
IO’s George Slessman joins SAP Asia Pacific Japan advisory board
Data center service company IO said its CEO George Slessman has joined the SAP Asia Pacific Japan (APJ) advisory board.
The SAP APJ advisory board consists of business leaders from various industries, including financial services, public sector, consumer, oil and gas, media and telecommunications. Members provide guidance around key issues such as sustainable growth and market development, industries and solutions, governments and regulators, new business models and opportunities.
“We are happy to have Mr. Slessman join our newly developed APJ advisory board,” said Colin Sampson, senior vice president and ambassador for SAP Asia Pacific Japan. “He brings expertise in disruption, insights into next-generation global IT, and a strong commitment to the APJ market.”
Slessman has been a technology innovator for nearly 20 years, founding and successfully exiting several businesses, as well as inventing software, hardware and clean energy technologies.
He is credited as being the inventor of 34 patented and patent-pending technologies, the company said.
In addition to SAP APJ, Slessman sits on the board of directors for Nourish Technology, cSuite, IO and BASELAYER.
