Ruth Porat to join Google as CFO

Google announced Tuesday that Morgan Stanley CFO Ruth Porat will join the search engine giant's management team as CFO.

Porat, 57, joined Morgan Stanley in 1987 and has played several key roles at the company, including vice chairman of investment banking, global head of the financial institutions group and co-head of technology investment banking before she became CFO in 2009.

Porat's appointment comes two weeks after Google announced long-time CFO Patrick Pichette is retiring.

Porat will assume her new role on May 26, reporting to Google CEO and co-founder, Larry Page.

“We’re tremendously fortunate to have found such a creative, experienced and operationally strong executive,” Larry Page said in a statement.

“I look forward to learning from Ruth as we continue to innovate in our core--from search and ads, to Android, Chrome and YouTube--as well as invest in a thoughtful, disciplined way in our next generation of big bets. Finally, huge thanks to Patrick Pichette for his seven super successful years as CFO”.

Nokia Networks reorganizes regional structure

Nokia Networks has reorganized its regional structure with seven markets as a result of the creation of a new customer operations structure the company announced in mid-March.

As such, Paul Tyler will become head of Asia-Pacific & Japan, and Sandeep Girotra head of India region.

Mike Wang will take over the position as head of Greater China from Markus Borchert, who will take up the new role as head of Europe.

Rick Corker will be the head of North America and Dimitri Dilliani head of Latin America, while Bernard Najm will be in charge of the Middle East & Africa region.

They all report to Ashish Chowdhary, executive vice president and chief business officer of Nokia Networks.

The appointments, together with the revamped set up, will take effective on April 1.

Doug Lowther to rejoin Irdeto as CEO

Irdeto has appointed Doug Lowther as its new chief executive, effective April 1. Lowther replaces Graham Kill, who resigned in September.

Currently Lowther is CEO at International Datacasting Corporation (IDC). Prior to IDC, Lowther was EVP of Irdeto’s Digital TV business and had been with the company for over nine years.

Irdeto said Lowther will strengthen Irdeto’s position in providing solutions for pay TV operators, over-the-top service providers, and content owners.

Additionally, Irdeto recently hired Andrew Bunten as CFO, effective February 1.

Prior to joining Irdeto, Bunten was CFO for Hewlett-Packard's cloud business, shepherding the company's strategic investment from the start-up phase to early maturity.
