Nokia Technologies names Rodrigues VP of strategy and business development

Nokia Technologies, the R&D and licensing arm under Nokia, has appointed Brad Rodrigues as vice president of strategy and business development, effective February 1.

He will report to Nokia Technologies president Ramzi Haidamus, and be based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

In his new role, Rodrigues will oversee global business development across all Nokia Technologies business units and regions. He will also be responsible for the company's long-term strategy and leading strategic initiatives and projects.

Prior to joining Nokia Technologies, Rodrigues was senior vice president of sales and marketing for DxO, where he oversaw the global launch of the DxO ONE, a professional-quality connected iPhone camera.

Rodrigues also led strategy, marketing and digital teams in the U.S. and European markets during his nine years at Nike. There he held a number of product leadership roles, including general manager for Nike+, the company's consumer electronics business and digital fitness community.

Before that Rodrigues served as SVP and GM at LeapFrog, and held strategy and business development roles at Centerpost and McKinsey & Company.

Viacom promotes Paras Sharma to SVP in Asia

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) has promoted Paras Sharma to the role of senior vice president of MTV & Comedy Central Brands and Digital Media, Asia, with immediate effect.

Based in Singapore, Sharma will continue to report to Mark Whitehead, executive vice president and managing director for Asia.

In his new role, Sharma will maintain his existing portfolio and take on the additional responsibility to explore the launch of new adult brands in Asia.

In his two-year tenure with VIMN, Sharma has led a few accomplishments including double-digit ratings growth across Asia for both the MTV and Comedy Central brands, and worked closely with advertising sales to deliver local programming via two successful music events – MTV Music Evolution and MTV World Stage Malaysia.

Brocade names Larry Tam MD for HK and Macau

Larry Tam has joined Brocade as managing director for Hong Kong and Macau to lead the company’s operations in the two markets. Based in Hong Kong, Tam will report to Eric Yu, vice president for Greater China.

Tam has over 30 years of technology leadership and management experience. He joins Brocade from Juniper Networks, where he served as country manager for Hong Kong and Macau for 13 years. Prior to this, he was the marketing director for Asia Pacific at Level 3 Communications.

Infinera adds John Daane to board

Infinera has appointed former Altera president and chief executive officer John P. Daane to the firm’s board.

Meanwhile, Carl Redfield, who has served as a director since 2006, will retire, according to a company statement released earlier this week.

Infinerna said Daane brings to the table a deep understanding of high performance programmable networking components and the networking ecosystems, especially as they pertain to data center and cloud architectures.

This background, Infrinera added, will be instrumental as Infinera continues its own innovation and growth trajectory expanding into new markets and gaining market share.

Daane has an extensive experience leading high technology companies, including semiconductor firm Altera, where he served as president, CEO and board member from November 2000 through Altera’s acquisition by Intel in December 2015.

Jeffrey Henderson joins Qualcomm board

Qualcomm has appointed Jeffrey W. Henderson to the company’s board of directors.

Henderson brings 30 years of financial and operational management experience to his position as an independent director, including 10 years as chief financial officer of Cardinal Health, a Fortune 30 healthcare company.
