DoCoMo names Kazuhiro Yoshizawa CEO, revamps management
NTT DoCoMo has announced a new CEO as part of a broader executive overhaul to the Japanese mobile giant’s management.
Kazuhiro Yoshizawa (pictured) will be promoted to president and chief executive officer, and member of the board of directors. He joined DoCoMo in 1979 and currently holds the positions of chief information officer, chief information security officer and chief privacy officer. He is also a senior executive vice president (SEVP) in charge of the telco's technology, device and information strategy, and member of the company’s board of directors.
Yoshizawa succeeds outing Kaoru Kato, who is expected to become the company’s corporate adviser and remains as a member of the board of directors.
Yoshizawa's current duties will be taken up by Hiroyasu Asami, who until now has served as managing director of DoCoMo's corporate strategy and planning department. Asami has also been appointed as SEVP and a member of the board of directors.
Yoshikiyo Sakai, managing director of sales and marketing, will also step down. He will take up a new role at NTT Finance Corporation.
DoCoMo has also nominated six new board candidates - Hiroshi Tsujigami, Kouji Furukawa, Kyoji Murakami, Seiji Maruyama, Noriko Endo and Shinichiro Ueno.
Meanwile, Michio Fujiwara, Hikaru Kawachiyama, Koichi Takahara, Taku Yamazaki, Kouji Tsubouchi and And Mayumi Tateishi will be promoted to senior vice presidents.
All the appointments and changes are pending for official approval at the shareholders and board of directors meetings scheduled for June 16.
