Hong Kong, Jan 19, 2017 – Telecom Asia is once again calling for nominations in its annual search for the best telecoms operators in the Asia Pacific region.
Now in its 20th year, the awards are the region’s longest-running and most prestigious telecom industry awards. They reward innovative and outstanding performance by Asian service providers and industry executives.
Readers are invited to nominate candidates in 12 categories. The deadline for online submissions is February 10.
Winners will be selected from a shortlist of candidates nominated by Telecom Asia readers, an independent judging panel and our editors. The judging panel, which will cast votes on the basis of innovation, financial performance, technology, market leadership and corporate governance, has the final say on which nominations make the shortlist.
The awards will be held in conjunction with Telecom Asia's 8th Telco Strategies conference and presented in a gala ceremony on May 3 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Last year, a total of 19 awards were presented to 14 winners. HKT was the big winner with three awards, scooping up the top prize for Best Asian Telecom Carrier, as well as Best Broadband Carrier and Best OTT Video Service.
Malaysian operator Maxis won the Best Emerging Market Operator award, while Morten Lundal was named Telecom CEO of the Year.
Telstra also collected two trophies, winning Best Mobile Carrier and Most Innovative Approach to Analytics. Meanwhile, Singtel took out two awards for Most Innovative Partnership Strategy (via its tie-up with GrabTaxi) and Most Innovative Video Service (for its work in developing augmented and virtual reality apps for TV advertising).
