Tata Communications has secured a contract to provide connectivity for new OTT service BlaBla Connect.
BlaBla Connect integrates mobile wallet and voice services with borderless connectivity to provide access to over 64 million Wi-Fi hotspots in over 160 countries.
The app also enables subscribers to make HD voice calls, chat, send SMS and international top-up credits to their own mobile devices and those of their friends and family. It is available for Android and iOS.
The service will use Tata Communications Wi-Fi+ to address the security risks and hidden costs that can be associated with accessing unsecure public Wi-Fi networks by allowing subscribers to automatically connect to pre-determined secure hotspots with a single sign-in experience.
“BlaBla Connect will be the first OTT voice and mobile wallet provider to offer bundled voice and data services globally.” BlaBla Connect chairman Ragheb ElSergani said.
“This latest development supports our global growth ambitions by helping us ensure that our customers can enjoy a seamless, secure and reliable experience, thanks to our partnership with Tata Communications and its established global network presence.”
India-based Tata Communications says its global network connects 4 out of 5 mobile subscribers and carries 25% of the world's internet routes. Its Tier-1 IP network offers connectivity to 500 PoPs in more than 240 countries and territories.
