Indonesian satellite and terrestrial network provider Tangara Mitrakom has increased its capacity through a supply deal with broadband satellite services provider Hughes Network Systems.

Under the agreement, Hughes will provide Tangara Mitrakom with a satellite service consisting of two gateways that can support up to 20,000 VSAT terminals.

Tangara Mitrakom will use the network, which will operate in the C-band satellite spectrum, to provide enterprise managed services across the country.

Hughes' solution incorporates carrier-grade IP broadband networking to support applications including mesh networking and on-the-move communications.

“Tangara Mitrakom is pleased to partner with Hughes to expand its service offerings using the

latest high-speed satellite technology,” the operator's president director Darwin Sariaatmadja said.

“Indonesia has more than 17,000 inhabited islands. With its proven satellite technology, we are confident that Hughes is the right partner to assist us in delivering services that will support both high network efficiency and superior performance between corporate customers’ head offices and their many remote offices in Indonesia.”

Tangara Mitrakom currently operates more than 8,000 sites and more than 50 service points in major cities in Indonesia.
