Dark fiber provider Superloop has secured a unified carrier license from the Office of the Communications Authority (OFCA) in Hong Kong.
The license will allow the operator to build, operate and provide telecom networks and services in Hong Kong.
Superloop CEO Daniel Abrahams called the granting of the license a significant milestone for the company. He said the company is continuing to explore expansion opportunities in the APAC region.
Superloop currently provides dark fiber connectivity services to network providers and enterprises in Australia and Singapore. The operator was founded last year by telecom entrepreneur Bevan Slattery, and went public in June following an A$17.5 million ($12.9 million) IPO.
The company has a 15-year exclusive right to a 130km fiber network in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in Australia, and recently acquired a 120km underground duct network in Singapore. Once complete the latter network is expected to link to major data center and subsea cable locations.
Superloop is also building a new independent dark fiber network connecting key points of presence in Asian markets.
