The Taiwanese government recently purchased three FSH4 spectrum analyzers from German communications equipment manufacturer Rohde & Schwartz.
A la James Bond's Q, the FSH4's were modified to detect the presence of unauthorized cellphones in government employment exams. Phones can be used to cheat by texting answers from one test taker to another.
Mathew Schwartz of InformationWeek says that roving exam monitors had earpieces attached to the devices that alerted them to cellphones in use. Three phone abusers were caught in the exam being monitored.
