SK Telecom has selected three startups to take part in the Telecom Infra Project (TIP) Ecosystem Accelerator Center (TEAC) project in Seoul.
The operator's accelerator program will focus on the development of breakthrough telecoms technologies and products. The operator selected the three companies from a list of over 30 applicants.
Optella is developing a cost-effective and low-power 5G wireless optical network solution based on its innovations in silicon optical bench (SiOB) based single-mode photonics and electronics integrated technology.
Cloud networking company Kulcloud is meanwhile developing a technology that satisfies requirements for time sync, QoS (Quality of Service) and low latency for 5G packed fronthaul.
Singapore-based startup Transcelestial is developing a laser communications solution to replace existing wireless technology.
The goal is to develop a constellation of nano satellites that use lasers to transfer and relay data for ground, satellite and deep space applications, with the goal of developing the fastest (up to 100 Gbps) long-distance, point-to-point wireless communication network possible.
SK Telecom is conducting the TEAC project in partnership with other operators. Besides the TEAC in Seoul, BT and Orange are running TEACs in London, England and Paris, France respectively, and Deutsche Telekom plans to establish one in Berlin, Germany.
