SingTel has arranged to incorporate Visa accounts and payment terminals into its mCash mobile payment service.

Under the agreement, Visa prepaid accounts will be linked to SingTel's NFC service mCash from early 2014.

The deal will allow SingTel customers in Singapore and Optus customers in Australia to use their smartphones at all Visa payWave NFC payment terminals worldwide.

The partners said there are currently around 12,000 Visa payWave acceptance points in Singapore and 100,000 across Australia.

Customers will also also be able to use Visa prepaid cards linked to their mCash account to make online purchases.

SingTel launched its mCash service in April. The operator is making the service to all mobile subscribers in Singapore – not just its own customers.

Its related mWallet service supports contactless payment cards DBS One.Tap Mastercard and EZ-link virtual card .
