SingTel is expanding its mRemit mobile remittance service to support transfers from Singapore to Indonesia.

The mRemit service will be available to transfer funds into the market from July 27. Recipients of transfers will have access to the funds within three minutes of a successful transaction.

SingTel has partnered with some 80 Indonesian banks for the service, including Bank Danamon, Bank Negara Indonesia and Bank Mandiri.

SingTel plans to waive fees for mobile payment transactions until the end of August as a launch promotion.

The mRemit service has been offering mobile remittances to the Philippines since its launch in 2012, but this marks the first expansion to another international market.

The Philippines service is offered in collaboration with GCASH, the mobile commerce subsidiary of SingTel affiliate Globe Telecom.

The service is available to subscribers of all mobile networks in Singapore, and is compatible with smartphones and feature phones, SingTel said.
