Hong Kong, Jan 10 – Telecom Asia is calling for nominations in its annual search for the best telecom operators in the region.

Now in its 15th year, the awards are the region’s longest-running and most prestigious telecom industry awards. They reward innovative and outstanding performance by Asian service providers and industry executives. This year’s awards have been expanded to include best cloud based service.

Readers are invited to nominate candidates in five categories:
• Best Asian Telecom Carrier
• Telecom CEO of the Year
• Best Community Telecom Project
• Most Innovative Telecom Project
• Best Cloud-Based Service

Nominations can be made online at http://awards.telecomasia.net/.

Winners in 11 categories will be chosen from more than 100 fixed, mobile and convergence telecom operators from around the region, Telecom Asia group editor Joseph Waring announced today.

Award winners are chosen from a shortlist of candidates nominated by Telecom Asia readers, judges and editors. Final selection is made by an independent panel of industry experts, who will cast votes on the basis of innovation, financial performance, technology, market leadership and corporate governance.

Axiata topped last year’s winners’ list after being voted the Best Regional Group and Emerging Market Carrier while XL Axiata's CEO Hasnul Suhaimi was voted Telecom CEO of the Year. Other winners included Softbank for Best Asian Telecom Carrier and CSL for Best Mobile Carrier.

“The Awards acknowledge achievement and highlight leadership in technology, management and innovation in Asian telecommunications”. “We are seeking those that can create new business segments and products and execute on them.” Mr. Waring said.

The awards will be held in conjunction with the Telco Strategies conference in Bangkok and will be presented in a ceremony on April 18.
