Telenor has lost a second senior manager in the space of a week following government criticism of the sale of its TV2 subsidiary.

Jan Erik Korssjøen, chairman of Telenor’s Corporate Assembly, plans to quit the telco at its AGM on May 16 after eleven years in the post. Korssjøen, who is also quitting his role as chair of the Nomination Committee, is taking action in protest at criticism by Norway’s trade minister that last week resulted in chairman Harald Norvik standing down.

"The reason for my resignation is that I disagree with the largest shareholder, on the decision, timing and the process leading to the resignation of the Chairman of the Board of Telenor ASA," Korssjøen explains.

Norvik quit after trade minister Trond Giske criticized his handling of the sale of TV2 in January. Norway’s government is the majority shareholder in Telenor, and Giske claimed to have no confidence in the telco’s chairman as a result of the deal.
