Hong Kong, Jan 10 – Telecom Asia is once again calling for nominations in its annual search for the best telecom operators in the region. Readers are invited to nominate candidates in seven categories. The deadline for online submissions is February 9.

Now in its 17th year, the awards are the region’s longest-running and most prestigious telecom industry awards. They reward innovative and outstanding performance by Asian service providers and industry executives. The awards are held in conjunction with Telecom Asia's Telco Strategies conference. The theme for 2014 is “Survival guide for the digital revolution”.
Awards in 13 categories will be presented at a ceremony on April 9 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Winners will be selected from a shortlist of candidates nominated by Telecom Asia readers, the 22-member judging panel and our editors.

Final selection is made by an independent panel of industry experts, who will cast votes on the basis of innovation, financial performance, technology, market leadership and corporate governance.

Last year NTT Communications, SK Telecom, and Telstra were presented the top awards. NTT Communications, shortlisted in four categories by the nominating judges, won the Best Asian Telecom Carrier trophy and SK Telecom won the Best Mobile Carrier category two years straight.

Telstra’s David Thodey was voted Telecom CEO of the Year for his performance at the helm of the Australian incumbent carrier.
