Hong Kong, Jan 10 – Telecom Asia is now accepting nominations in its annual search for the best telecom operators in the region. This year the number of awards has been expanded, with three categories added: Most Innovative Partnership Strategy, Most Advanced Approach to CEM and Best Data Center Services Provider.

Telecom Asia readers are invited to nominate candidates in eight categories: http://awards.questexevents.net/2012/th/nominations. The deadline for online submissions is February 1.

Now in its 16th year, the awards are the region’s longest-running and most prestigious telecom industry awards. They reward innovative and outstanding performance by Asian service providers and industry executives. The awards are held in conjunction with Telecom Asia's Telco Strategies conference. The theme for 2013 is "At the crossroads: Innovation strategies to profit in the digital world."

The awards will be presented in a ceremony on April 18.

Winners in 13 categories will be chosen from more than 110 fixed, mobile and convergence telcos from around the region. Award winners are chosen from a shortlist of candidates nominated by Telecom Asia readers, judges and editors. Final selection is made by an independent panel of industry experts, who will cast votes on the basis of innovation, financial performance, technology, market leadership and corporate governance. The judging panel has been expanded to 22 judges: http://awards.questexevents.net/2012/th/judging

Last year the SingTel Group, Smart Communications and SK Telecom were presented the top awards. SingTel, shortlisted in seven categories by the nominating judges, won the Best Asian Telecom Carrier trophy and SK Telecom won the Best Mobile Carrier category.

Smart’s president and CEO Napoleon Nazareno was voted Telecom CEO of the Year for his performance at the helm of Smart, which claimed Best Emerging Market Carrier while its m-health program, SHINE (Secured Health Information Network and Exchange) won the Best Community Telecom Project category.
