Network equipment vendor Ruckus Networkshas secured a deal to provide its technology for use in Google Station Wi-Fi hotspots across India and Indonesia.

Under the agreement, Ruckus will provide devices and technologies capable of enabling carrier-grade networks at these hotspots, including the vendor's virtual SmartZone controller and indoor and outdoor Wi-Fi access points.

Google Station is a public Wi-Fi platform designed to provide a simple set of tools for rolling out Wi-Fi hotspots in public places. Ruckus' adaptive antenna BeamFlex technology will be used to increase connectivity, performance and range.

The company's technologies have already been deployed across hundreds of Wi-Fi hotspots for Google Stations in India, Indonesia and Mexico.

“We are committed to delivering connectivity to users across the globe," Ruckus Networks president Dan Rabinovitsj said.

"Our partnership with Google Station enables emerging countries--from east to west--to deploy high-performance public Wi-Fi networks. Ruckus strives to deliver better quality service, from installation to end users--enhancing the overall user experience. We look forward to this ongoing partnership with Google bringing more connectivity to developing nations."

The Google Station launch forms part of Google's commitment to increasing internet access in developing markets under its Next Billion Users Initiative.
