Quantum Corp and Singapore-based service provider NCS are expanding their partnership across the Asia-Pacific region. In addition to Singapore, the expanded tie-up will initially cover the Greater China, Australia and ASEAN markets, with other markets to follow over time.

As Quantum's first top-tier channel partner spanning the entire region, NCS will incorporate the US vendor's data protection and big data management products, including the DXi backup and deduplication appliances, vmPRO virtualization solutions, StorNext data management software and appliances and Scalar tape libraries, into its solutions.

The economic value of data is increasing, with more data being stored for longer periods of time and reused for new analysis, revenue creation opportunities and scientific breakthroughs. Technologies such as deduplication, virtualization and cloud offer better ways of managing and protecting data but also present challenges.

As part of the agreement, Quantum will develop a Centre of Excellence (COE) in NCS Singapore, providing training and necessary skill sets to support the regional business. The COE serves both local customers intending to expand overseas and regional customers seeking relevant support.

"NCS has been working with Quantum for many years in Singapore," said Vincent Lim, vice president of NCS. "With this, we can now bring forth our synergy to markets where NCS has touchpoints."

The collaboration will complement NCS' suite of capabilities, which incorporates technologies such as mobility, big data and analytics, machine-to-machine communications, sensing technology and social networking technologies. Target markets include education, healthcare, transport as well as other key industry sectors.
