BlackBerry’s new PlayBook tablet is coming to Singapore on June 23 and will be available at SingTel, StarHub and M1, as well as a number of retail outlets.

Research In Motion announced yesterday customers can place orders for the PlayBook, which comes in three Wi-Fi models. The 16-GB model is priced at S$668, the 32-GB version sells for S$798 and the 64-GB device goes for S$928 (including GST).

Gregory Wade, RIM’s regional managing director, said the PlayBook supports Adobe Flash Player, multitasking, HD multimedia, advanced security features, out-of-the-box enterprise support and a robust development environment.
Yesterday RIM also introduced new versions of the BlackBerry Bold smartphone – the 9900 and 9930 running on the new BlackBerry 7 operating system.

Both models have a brushed stainless steel frame and a high-gloss glass-weave backplate. At 10.5mm, they are the thinnest BlackBerry smartphones released.

The devices feature a built-in compass (magnetometer) to support location-based services and augmented reality. They also have built-in support for near field communications and support up to 720p HD video recording and playback.
