Hong Kong based IoT network and solution provider Pixel Networks has teamed up with LPWA technology company Actility to deploy the city's first LoRaWAN IoT network.
The network will use Actility's ThingPark Wireless Platform, combined with Cisco's IoT solutions and low power long range WAN (LoRaWAN) gateway technology.
Pixel will provide both the network and components required for IoT deployments, including sensors, analytics and visualization software plus system support, integration and maintenance.
Pixel is also enabling virtual private LoRaWAN networks utilizing both public network infrastructure and customers' own outdoor and indoor gateways.
“Hong Kong is a highly competitive and cutting edge city, and at the same time an open and thriving market always on the lookout for ways to improve efficiency in day to day operations,” Pixel CEO Kirill Nosov said.
“We think that makes Hong Kong a very good fit with our core business of providing fully integrated hardware and software solutions, ready to use on day one. We also think that this dynamic city environment will be a great place to develop solutions that will be easily adapted to other international markets.”
The first applications Pixel's customers will be deploying over the network will include smart building applications, such as temperature monitoring, smart lighting and pre-emptive maintenance, as well as electric vehicle parking and charging management.
