PCCW Global has launched a new global software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) service for enterprises spanning 80 countries.

The new service is designed to complement the company's existing fiber-based IP-MPLS services to provide enterprises with a secure, application aware network capable of continually optimizing for performance and cost in real-time.

To address the increasing complexity of enterprise networks in the age of cloud computing, analytics and the IoT, the SD-WAN solution is designed to simplify multi-site WAN deployment and management.

Network traffic is continually routed over a preferred network path using a combination of IP-MPLS, broadband and LTE connectivity to meet pre-defined network and performance policies.

Enterprises can either make use of an existing PCCW Global MPLS network or use connectivity provided by another service provider. Networks can be managed through a centralized portal that provides visibility, configuration, reporting and trouble-shooting capabilities.

The service will initially be launched in over 80 countries across Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and the US, and will be expanded to more markets in the future. PCCW Global's MPLS network spans over 3,000 cities in 150 counties.

“Globally, the need for intelligent and advanced business networks is growing substantially,” PCCW Global SVP of product and vendor management Jordick Wong said.

“Our SD-WAN service provides enterprises with an efficient and streamlined networking capability that maximizes their existing connectivity solutions and optimizes business-critical and cloud-based applications, ensuring an enhanced user experience without having to spend more on connectivity.”
