PCCW Global, China Telecom Global and Chunghwa Telecom have teamed up to create a unified IP exchange platform for the Greater China region.

The companies have signed a three-way interconnection agreement covering their respective IPX communities.

Once operational, the IPX platform will include VoIPX, GRX, Diameter, HD calling, HD video conferencing, Ethernet, cloud offerings and SDN. The platform will also connect IP services between mobile and fixed networks via MPLS.

PCCW Global has an IPX network panning 3,000 cities in 140 countries. China Telecom Global's IPX covers 312 cities in mainland China and nearly 130 countries overseas.

“We are honored to be working with CTG and CHTI to establish a seamless Greater China IPX network as a ‘bridge’ that will facilitate even tighter communication throughout the region, and to the rest of the world,” PCCW Global CEO Marc Halbfinger said.

“The latest 4G services are enabling people to interact with greater flexibility for voice and data networks, and our collective IPX solution will serve to accelerate that process.”

“We launched 4G in mid-2014, as the first and only IPX service provider in Taiwan,” added Chunghwa Telecom International EVP Dr Alex Chien.

“We are pleased to co-operate with China Telecom Global and PCCW Global via IPX peering interconnections, and believe this ‘everyone wins’ strategy will deliver the greatest benefits to our customers.”
