Pakistan's Zong has announced the deployment of its 10,000th 4G site in the nation, claiming a Pakistan first with the milestone.

The wholly-owned China Mobile subsidiary now has a 4G presence spanning every corner of the country, the operator said.

Zong 4G plans to roll out an additional 5,000 4G sites over the next three years to cater to growing traffic demands.

Zong was the first Pakistani operator to launch 4G services in 2015, after having paid $516 million for 3G and 4G spectrum the prior year.

“Zong 4G has taken the lead to connect Pakistan with the rest of the world. We have upgraded all our sites to 4G and developed the most seamless and technologically advanced network which is second to none, a Zong spokesperson said in a statement.

Meanwhile in Vietnam, VNPT-Net - a subsidiary of state-owned operator VNPT - has revealed it is collaborating with Ericsson Vietnam to optimize 200 LTE base stations in Ho Chi Minh city.

VNPT-Net plans to subsequently use the knowledge gained from Ericsson during the collaboration to self-optimize a further 806 LTE base stations with the vendor's support.
