Pacnet opens Tier III data center in Tianjin

Pacnet has announced plans to set up an SDN-capable Tier III data center in Tianjin, China.

The new facility will seek to address demand for data center and managed services in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

Developed by Pacnet's Chinese joint venture Pacnet Business Solutions and the Tianjin Wuqing government, the facility is located at the region's Gaocun Science & Technology Innovation Park.

The TJSC1 data center is capable of hosting 2,000 racks, and is connected to China International Data System's (CIDS) Beijing data center via the Pacnet Enabled Network.

The facility offers 24x7 multilingual customer service and on-site support. as well as security, peering and disaster mitigation capabilities.

"Today's opening of TJCS1 also positions Pacnet as an innovator in the data center industry in China, enabling the delivery of SDN solution in China,” Pacnet CEO Carl Grivner said.

“The facility further reaffirms our capabilities in meeting data center needs of both domestic enterprises, and multinational corporations in the world's fastest-growing economy.”

Gartner estimates that China's data center services market will grow at a CAGR of 25% from 2012-2017, to reach a total value of $3.9 billion. Capacity is meanwhile expected to grow at a CAGR of 11.3% through to 2016.
