Optus Business has secured an extension of its managed network services contract with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) for another three years.

The SingTel-owned telco first won the contract to provide managed network services to the ATO in 2009.

Under the renewed contract, Optus will continue to provide all voice and data communications (mobile and fixed), contact center and video conferencing services to the ATO until June 2018.

The deal sees Optus support over 20,000 ATO end users across more than 35 locations throughout Australia, including ATO’s contact center operations.

John Paitaridis, managing director at Optus Business said during the peak tax period (July 1 – October 31) in 2014, the ATO managed 6.2 million calls at an average of 69,000 calls per weekday on the Optus network.

“We are delivering a large scale, enterprise-wide, multi-vendor environment tightly integrated to ATO’s core systems,” Paitaridis said in the statement.

“We also provide the ATO with a range of project services from office relocations, to complex application development projects to support the ATO’s digital innovation programs.”

As well as ATO, Optus Business also provides ICT services to a number of Federal Government agencies including the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.
