Australia's Optus has announced a range of prepaid mobile plans allowing customers to roll over unused data allocations.
The SingTel subsidiary's new My Prepaid Monthly Plus plans will allow customers to retain up to 10GB of unused data allocation as long as they recharge their credit within 30 days.
The plans also offer unlimited national calls and texts, competitive international rates and an option to pay A$5 ($3.75) for a topup of 500MB worth of mobile data. Pricing ranges from A$30 for 1.5GB of data to A$60 for 6GB.
Announcing the plans, SingTel director of mobile marketing Tim Cowan said the operator is responding to demand from prepaid customers.
“Prepaid customers’ data usage varies month to month – they might consume a whole lot streaming sporting events one month and far less on holidays during another month. We asked prepaid customers across the country and 82% told us they don’t use all their data every month,” he said.
“Customers hate losing their data and that’s why Optus is launching data rollover, so customers can have what they paid for and use that data whenever they want.”
The services use Optus' 4G Plus branded LTE-A network, which the operator has revealed now covers 86% of the Australian population.
