Ooredoo's wholesale division Ooredoo Global Services has signed three major agreements to expand its international presence, including a deal to join the SEA-ME-WE 5 subsea cable consortium.

Ooredoo has agreed to participate as a landing party for the SEA-ME-WE 5 cable, one of the world's largest planned consortium cable projects designed to link the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Western Europe.

Ooredoo will act as a landing party in Qatar and Oman, and Ooredoo Global Services will manage the landing station on behalf of its parent company.

The SEA-ME-WE 5 consortium was formed in March last year by 15 operators, including SingTel, China Unicom and the international arms of China Telecom and Chin Mobile. Construction commenced in September.

The company separately announced a new agreement with BICS allowing it to provide 4G data roaming services in more than 75 countries via BICS' IPX platform.

Finally, the company has signed a deal with PCCW Global covering the supply of IPX and MPLS services to PCCW Global customers connecting to Qatar. The two operators will also collaborate on providing services including VoIPX, HD calling and videoconferencing, Ethernet, cloud and SDN.

Ooredoo Global Services and PCCW are already collaborating as founder members of the AAE-1 subsea cable system, which is scheduled for completion next year.
