Canada's Telus has joined forces with Nuage Networks to launch Telus Network as a Service (NaaS), an offering based on the latter’s SD-WAN solution.

Nuage Networks said the new offering will enable Telus enterprise customers to virtually build, manage and cloud-optimize their networks quickly, easily and cost effectively through a flexible self-serve platform.

Nuage Networks SD-WAN solution, Virtualized Network Services (VNS), will help Telus reduces costs, increases business agility and provides the massive scalability needed to meet cloud-driven requirements and surging data-driven demand, the vendor added.

The partnership with Telus is Nuage Networks’ latest telco win for SD-WAN. Apart from Telus, Nuage Networks has also provided its SD-WAN solution to leading service providers including BT, China Telecom, Telefonica, Telia and My Republic.

SD-WAN has gained significant traction particularly in enterprises space, as it promises to reduce the complexity and cost associated with enterprise WANs.

Research firm IDC predicts the SD-WAN products and services market will be worth more than $6 billion in 2020, up from about $575 million in 2016.

A global survey by IDC also shows that 70% of enterprise customers responding to the survey said they will have evaluated or deployed SD-WAN by the end of 2017. Further, 40% of enterprise respondents indicated that they plan to implement integrated SD-WAN solutions obtained from communications service providers.
