NTT Com has used Ixia's 100GE layer 2-7 network test suite to validate a high-speed network link between Chiba and Tokyo.
During the trial NTT Com transmitted traffic at 100 Gbps over 50km using its network equipment and Ixia's K2 higher speed test suite.
The test solution used Opnext's CFP 100GBASE-LR4 transceivers, which uses two single-mode fibers at 25Gbps - each running at a different wavelength.
NTT Com said the successful trial will allow it to move forward with the development of a next-generation network that complies with the IEEE 802.3ba standard.
