NSN has joined SK Telecom in announcing plans to show off 450Mbps LTE-Advanced at Mobile World Congress this month.

The vendor said it plans to use the show to demonstrate tri-band carrier aggregation technology.

A software upgrade to the company's Flexi Multiradio 10 base stations allows the aggregation of up to 60MHz of spectrum from across three wavelengths.

All three South Korean operators launched LTE-Advanced last year, and Infonetics principal analyst Stéphane Téral said he expects LTE-A deployments to ramp up in 2014.

“For wireless operators, LTE-A carrier aggregation increases competitiveness as it allows for large, high data rate pipes to be created out of fragmented frequency allocations,” he said.

SK Telecom announced last month that it has also developed tri-band LTE-A technology, and plans to show off 450Mbps downlink speeds through the aggregation of three 20 MHz carriers at MWC.
