Nokia Siemens has unveiled a new combined packet data switch and optical platform, designed to simplify large networks while addressing rising demand for capacity.
The vendor's packet optical transport solution (P-OTS) has been developed by combining packet data handling functionality with its existing hiT 7300 DWDM platform.
The P-OTS integrates MPLS transport profile functionality and protocol-agnostic switching, through an amalgam of photonic switching and electrical switching capacity.
It has been designed to be easily scalable as traffic demands increase.
