Singapore's MyRepublic has launched the nation's first 1Gbps no-contract fiber service as part of plans to expand its presence in the market.

The operator will offer the no-contract service at S$69.99 per month, AsiaOnereported. This compares to the S$49.99 price for a 1Gbps plan on a 24-month contract.

MyRepublic launched Singapore's first no-contract fiber broadband plan in 2013 with an S$59 per month 100Mbps service.

These plans are designed to cater to customers who do not want to be tied down to a contract and be free to switch providers without incurring early termination fees.

MyRepublic is an ISP, but the company has a goal of becoming Singapore's fourth mobile operator. In June last year, MyRepublic submitted an application for a mobile license, and in July the company received $30 million in international investments to support its expansion efforts.

Rival operator M1 this month launched Singapore's first 10Gbps fiber service over Singapore's national fiber network the NG-NBN.
