State-backed operator Myanmar Post and Telecom (MPT) has revealed plans to rapidly expand its new LTE-Advanced network to cover over 300 townships across the nation by the end of the year.

The LTE+ branded network is expected to be available in 180 townships by the end of the month, expanding to townships across all corners of Myanmar by the end of 2018.

MPT has already extended the LTE-A network, which supports 4x4 multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) and carrier aggregation technology, in an additional 40 new townships this quarter, including major cities in the nation.

“MPT is the first operator in Myanmar introducing LTE+ network by using 4×4 MIMO and CA technology and with this expansion, internet users in new townships will notice the incredible difference when they download large files, play data-intensive games or stream high definition videos,” commented Reizo Umeda, chief commercial officer of the MPT-KSGM JV.

“Moreover, with our new Data Carry Plus packages MPT customers will also enjoy very affordable prices. As part of our major network expansion strategy and strong commitment to provide the best customer experience, we are looking forward to expanding our LTE+ network to cover over 300 townships by the end of this year.”
