US vendor Motorola will roll out Android smartphones in China that incorporate the Bing search engine by the end of the month.
Motorola said yesterday it will add Bing search and map functions to its Android-powered smartphones, as part of a global alliance just inked with Microsoft.
The company will include a pre-loaded Bing bookmark on its mobile browsers and a new widget that also includes the Microsoft search engine.
In the wake of the Google-Chinese censorship debacle, Motorola announced in January a new feature on their Android handsets for China, enabling users to select their own search provider, including local search champion Baidu.
This was the first time that Motorola had opened up its search engine choice to consumers.
Earlier this week, W-CDMA operator China Unicom launched its first customized Android device, the Motorola XT701, which supports Wi-Fi and WAPI.
Motorola hopes to release six Android smartphones in China this year, said SCMP.
