Motorola has revealed plans to reintroduce its smartphone in China starting from early this year.

The company has announced it will launch its Moto X smartphones in China in early February, in time for the annual Spring Festival.

Motorola will also introduce its Moto X Pro and Moto G smartphones in China shortly afterwards.

“Motorola has a long history in China and we are pleased that smartphone fans there continue to be passionate about our brand and products,” the company said in a statement.

“Chinese consumers have long been at the leading edge of smartphone use, blazing trails in mobile messaging, media and more. Motorola's pure Android based devices will give them new choices in how they connect to the world.”

In separate news, Alcatel-Lucent recently appointed Luis Martinez-Amago as CEO of the company's flagship Chinese subsidiary Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell.

Martinez-Amago will take responsibility for ASB's business in and outside of China, according to Alcatel-Lucent CEO Michael Combes.

“China plays a crucial role in Alcatel-Lucent’s overall transformation and global business development,” he said.

“Luis - with his track record and extensive experience in general management, commercial and product activities - will enable ASB to build its strategic position in the market and in Alcatel-Lucent’s global roadmap, as the group pursues the second chapter of The Shift Plan, focused on innovation, transformation and growth.”
