Most Bangkok net users suspicious of web

A poll of Bangkok internet users has shown that a majority do not trust news they read online, while LINE has emerged as the most popular messaging medium.

Bansomdej poll, part of the Rajabhat Bansomdejchaopraya University, conducted a study of 1,437 Internet users in Bangkok. 51.3% of respondents did not believe news they read online, 15.7% were unsure while 33% did believe news off the internet.

The same poll showed that 50.4% used Naver’s LINE instant messenger app, 23.7% were using WhatsApp and WeChat by Tencent was third at 8.3%.

As for social networks, 41.4% used Facebook, followed by Instagram at 18.9% and Google+ being used by 13.5% of respondents.

A clear majority of 62.2% did not trust internet commerce, 21.1% were unsure while only 16.7% felt confident to buy something over the Internet.
