The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission officially grants a 3G spectrum license to TT dotCom, a subsidiary of telecom services provider TIME dotCom.
In a statement, the firm said the IMT-2000 UMTS spectrum licensee is valid from November 2006 to April 2018 and covers the 1965-1980MHz, 2155-2170MHz and 2010-2015MHz frequency bands.
TIME said it will use HSDPA to provide next-generation 3G broadband and mobile products and confirmed it intends to launch commercially by the second quarter of next year.
The company completed a pilot trial from May to August this year, testing the capability and functionality of HSDPA networks in the Golden Triangle area of Kuala Lumpur.
It presented the results of the trial and its plans for next-generation 3G to the country's minister for Energy, Water and Communications in August.
