Singapore's M1 has ramped up competition in Singapore's high-speed fiber market, introducing the market's first 2Gbps to 10Gbps GPON services.

The XGPON services, which will be offered over the NG-NBN national fiber network, are originally being aimed at corporate customers but will be extended to consumers by the end of the year.

M1 will offer the services to corporate customers for S$1,088 ($771) per month for a 2Gbps connection up to S$2,888 per month for 10Gbps. Each plan comes with a service level guarantee of 99.95% uptime.

M1 chief product development and corporate communications officer Willis Sim said the new products are designed to fill an industry gap for corporate connectivity services between the 1Gbps and 10Gbps levels.

“We continually expand our suite of solutions, such as our 10Gbps Active Ethernet service, state-of-the-art data center and cloud-based offerings, to meet the needs of the corporate segment,” he said.

“Through our engagement with customers, we recognise there is pent-up demand for a scalable and cost-effective connectivity service, especially from businesses with high-bandwidth requirements such as gaming and media companies, something not available previously.”

M1 also offers GPON services of up to 1Gbps and a 10Gbps active Ethernet service over the NG-NBN.
