Singapore’s M1 broadband provider has taken out a full-page ad in the Straits Times for its FTTH home broadband service but got the telephone number very wrong.

The ad instructed potential customers to call 1633, the number for rival telco StarHub, rather than its own 1627 number.

A full page color advertisement in the Straits Times costs up to $26,000 (S$33,000).

StarHub’s head of communications Jeannie Ong issued a statement thanking M1 for the opportunity to sell to their potential customers.

“We believe that it is a genuine mistake made by our competitor and we still believe that our

HubTrooper is truly the best one-stop home networking solution for our customers' fiber broadband connections,” she said.

M1, however, did not reply to email asking for comment.
