StarHub has secured a multi-year agreement for the rights to broadcast the Spanish La Liga, with matches to be shown in high definition on StarHub TV and on StarHub Go.

Matches will also be broadcast on SuperSports 2 and StarHub’s free cable channel SuperSports Arena (StarHub TV Channel 112/205 and 76.25MHz).

“We always take the feedback from our customers seriously and have been working hard to bring La Liga back to Singapore screens,” said Howie Lau, chief marketing officer of StarHub. “Sports Group customers will be able to get front row seats to the footballing spectacle put up by world class players such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar.”

Viewers need a Sports Group subscription to access SuperSports 2. In addition, Sports Group subscribers will be able to catch La Liga matches on their mobile devices.

La Liga consists of 20 teams including defending champions Barcelona and Valencia, which is owned by Singaporean businessman Peter Lim.

“StarHub’s support ensures that our fans in Singapore will be able to closely follow the team’s progress on TV,” said Valencia CF president Chan Lay Hoon. “The club is nothing without our fans so this gives all the players a big boost for the second half of the campaign.”

La Liga clubs have dominated European competitions. In the last decade alone, a combined total of 11 UEFA Champions League (UCL) and UEFA Europa League (UEL)/UEFA Cup titles have been won by Spanish clubs.
