The South Korean government has signed an agreement to host next year's ITU Plenipotentiary Conference.

Korean Minister of Science, ICT and Future Planning Choi Mun-Kee and ITU Secretary-General Dr Hamadoun I. Touré have formally signed host country agreements, the ITU announced.

The conference takes place every four years. Next year, it will be held in the city of Busan at the Bexco exhibition and convention center. The event will run from October 20 to November 7.

During the conference, the ITU will set general policies, adopt four-year strategic and financial plans and also elect senior managers, its governing council and the members of the Radio Regulations Board.

The most recent plenipotentiary conference was hosted by the Mexican government in Guadalajara in 2010.
