KongZhong profit down 12% in Q2

(SinoCast via NewsEdge) Nasdaq-listed KongZhong, a leading wireless value-added services provider and wireless Internet portal operator in China, reported total revenues of $30.07 million for the second quarter of this year, representing a year-on-year rise of 64%, according to its unaudited financial results for the second quarter.

However, the company's net profit of $7.6 million for the second quarter was 12% lower than profits in the previous quarter.

The firm said revenues from 2.5G business, including services for usage of WAP, MMS, and Java technologies, accounted for a combined 46% stake in the company's total operating revenues.

Revenues from its 2G services, including SMS, interactive voice response, and other value-added services contributed 54% of total revenues.

In addition, the company's revenues from the nation's three leading telecom carriers, China Unicom, China Telecom and China Netcom, took up 23% of its total revenues, higher than the last quarter's 9%.
