Kaspersky Lab has teamed up with international law enforcement bodies INTERPOL and Europol to fight cybercrime.
Eugene Kaspersky, Chairman and CEO of Kaspersky Lab, and Ronald K. Noble, INTERPOL Secretary General, signed a cooperation agreement on 30 September under which the security company will provide its products, intelligence, and ongoing support to the INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation (IGCI) in Singapore.
The following day, Kaspersky and Troels Oerting, Europol’s Assistant Director and Head of its European Cybercrime Centre (EC3), also signed an agreement for closer cooperation.
Both signing ceremonies took place in Singapore, which hosted the INTERPOL-Europol Cybercrime Conference on from October 1–3.
“This truly is a major leap forward in the global fight against cybercrime. Our partnerships with INTERPOL and Europol represent pioneering achievements for the whole cybersecurity industry. Such public-private cooperation is vital for improving security in cyberspace," Kaspersky said following the ceremonies.
“These partnerships are perfectly aligned with our mission to ‘save the world’ from cyberthreats. As these threats’ scale and sophistication continue to grow, we have to join forces with national and international law enforcement bodies and also other private-sector security companies to effectively combat these growing hazards,” he added.
Under the new agreement with INTERPOL, Kaspersky Lab will provide threat intelligence as well as both hardware and software to establish and run IGCI’s digital forensics laboratory and other operations of the newly established center.
