Juniper Networks has announced plans to take the lead in the 400GbE transition by infusing 400GbE across all its new products starting from later this year.

The vendor has announced a broad 400GbE refresh to its wide-area network, data center and enterprise portfolio.

The refresh will be designed to help operators, enterprises and cloud providers recalibrate network economics as they transition to 400GbE, while keeping up with surging bandwidth demands due to 5G, augmented and virtual reality streaming, cloud and 4K video streaming.

In line with this ambition, Juniper has unveiled a new 400GbE WAN packet transport router for next generation backbone, peering and data center interconnect applications.

The company is also enhancing its QFX series of data center switches with 400GbE technology, and will introduce 400GbE capabilities to its recently announced MX Series 5G Universal Routing Platform from the first half of next year.

“The impending wave of network traffic is coming from all angles and affecting all industries. Success will be about not only equipping the network with the right technology to handle the traffic in a secure way but also fine-tuning the economics so it makes good business sense,” Juniper Networks CTO Bikash Koley said.

“We’re putting a stake in the ground today in leading our customers’ transition to 400GbE network capacity with the industry’s most comprehensive set of use cases, including backbone, peering, data center IP fabric and metro core, to enable our customers to economically usher in the next era of connectivity.”
