India's Reliance Jio Infocomm has applied its trademark aggressive discounting strategy to the international roaming segment, with the company now offering a line of ultra-low-price prepaid and pay-as-you-go roaming plans.
The operator is offering roaming rates starting at 2 rupees ($0.028) per minute for voice calls, 2 rupees per megabyte of data and 2 rupees per SMS.
Jio is also offering unlimited voice, data packs and SMS packs valid in 20 countries across Asia and Europe, including a one day pack for 575 rupees, a seven day pack for 2,875 rupees and a 30 day pack for 5,751 rupees.
Finally, a global roaming pack applicable across all countries offers a monetary value of 1,211 rupees that can be used across voice calls, SMS and data usage for 28 days for a cost of 1,101 rupees.
There are no additional subscription or monthly rental charges, and incoming SMS as well as incoming calls on the unlimited plans are being provided for free.
