Intel and the US Federal Trade Commission have filed court applications to suspend a lawsuit into the chip giant’s alleged abuse of its market power.

The two applied jointly to suspend trial proceedings while the parties try to reach an out-of-court settlement of the case, they said in a joint statement.

Under the filing, the two parties have until July 22 to reach an agreement.

The FTC filed the case last December, alleging Intel had attempted to keep rival AMD out of the x86 PC chip market in a series of moves dating back to 1999.

Intel agreed to pay AMD $1.25 billion to settle their litigation last November.

Multimedia chip firm Nvidia has also filed a complaint over Intel’s conduct in that market.
