iflix has partnered with Smart Communications (Smart) and Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) to provide its service to Smart’s customer base of at least 70 million in the Philippines.
The collaboration will allow PLDT businesses PLDT Home, Smart, Sun and TNT customers to enjoy content on iflix, whenever, wherever, at no additional cost, courtesy of Smart Communications and PLDT.
Also, the partnership will enable the launch of significant product breakthrough with instant access for Smart, Sun and TNT customers. To access their subscription, eligible Smart customers simply go to iflix.com or the iflix app, with no need to sign up or sign in.
In a world first, the iflix system will instantly recognize the user is on a Smart connection, and will tag that device using proporietary technology — be it a phone, laptop, desktop or tablet - and enable iflix on that device to allow the user to watch iflix wherever, whenever.
Smart and PLDT subscribers will also be able to download shows to their mobile phone or tablet to watch their favorite shows, even when they aren’t connected to the internet.
“We are proud to introduce a world first with a seamless iflix experience that allows our subscribers to enjoy (iflix offerings) with no need to sign up or sign in,” said Ariel P. Fermin, Smart EVP and head of consumer business.
Now available in Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines, iflix will continue to roll out its service to additional key Southeast Asian markets in coming months.
