South African broadband provider iBurst has deployed Ciena's carrier Ethernet service delivery platforms for wireless backhaul.
iBurst replaced its existing Layer 2 infrastructure with Ciena equipment, which supports backhaul for both 3G and 4G networks.
The operator said Ciena's platform was the only option which had the scalability to meet iBurst's network capacity requirements.
Ciena has also deployed its services platform to help support iBurst's primary and back-up data centers.
