Huawei reportedly uncovered four incidences of corruption during its annual internal anti-graft probe.
A source familiar with the investigation toldReuters that the vendor responded by holding talks with employees reaffirming its zero-tolerance bribery policy and discussing what constitutes corruption.
Chinese financial news outlet Caixin recently asserted that 116 employees had been implicated in soliciting and accepting bribes from sales agents in exchange for rebates.
The Chinese government has recently been making moves to crack down on corruption by both foreign and domestic firms.
But Huawei has played down the significance, asserting that it conducts the investigations every year and the probe only happened to attract media attention this year.
Reuters notes that Huawei has come under investigations in recent years in Uganda, Zimbabwe and Algeria over its business dealings.
In a recent media statement, Huawei said it is “firmly implementing an open, transparent and stable channel policy, in order to pursue fairness and justice in the market, and to fight firmly against any form of employee practice that fails to meet the standards we set for ourselves.”
